About me.

Hello, let me tell you how I got interested in vintage jewellery. In 2004 I moved to London and after a while I got a job in an antiques centre there. One of the dealers dealt in antique costume jewellery pieces and it was through selling her stock that I began to learn about american costume jewellery pieces of the 1920’s through to the 1960’s. That it was quite different from modern costume jewellery and that you had high end manufacturers like Bogoff that had worked as designers for actual jewelers like Tiffany and Cartier. That these vintage pieces were sometimes made of silver (During the war base metal use was restricted, use of silver was not) and if they were base metal, they were usually plated with precious metals like Rhodium. And that, for the most part, the stones used were top quality Crystals by Swarovski, and not pieces of cut glass like I’d always assumed.
